NURS FPX 4900 Assessment 1: Assessing the Problem

NURS FPX 4900 Assessment 1

Identification of Patient Healthcare Issue

NURS FPX 4900 Assessment 1: This capstone design aims to attack type 2 diabetes in my ma’s case. My ma is a 60-year-old case who endured devilish thirst, a jingling sensation in his toes and galettes, and unintentional weight loss a time ago.

. After that, I took her to the laboratory for a fasting blood glucose test. Her laboratory examinations were conducted, and her fasting blood glucose was 280 mg/dL (more advanced than the normal range of 70-100 mg/dL) with HbA1c 10. This showed that my ma was suffering from type 2 diabetes. Her treatment was at Alhambra Hospital Medical Center, where I worked as a registered nurse.

Her history showed she was a hypertensive case, effectively controlled by medicine; medicine adherence was the only factor that maintained her blood pressure. Still, her sedentary life, lacking physical exertion, drunkenness, and unhealthy diet, is a vital factor that needs to be addressed. Another important issue in my ma’s case is our middle-class background, where financial arrears don’t allow her to effectively manage the complaint condition.

NURS FPX 4900 Assessment 1: Assessing the Problem: Leadership, Collaboration, Communication, Change Management, and Policy Considerations

Type 2 diabetes is a common health problem endured by aged people. In 2019, about 19.3% of the population aged 65-99 suffered from diabetes. Also, the frequency rates of type 2 diabetes in elderly people will increase to 195.2 million and 276.3 million by 2030 and 2045, respectively (Sinclair et al., 2020). This shows that type 2 diabetes is largely applicable to our professional practice, which multitudinous aged people substantiate later in their aging lives. Likewise, diabetes is a significant healthcare issue that impacts cases’ quality of life.

Diabetes, if left unaddressed, leads to various complications, such as eye blindness, supplemental neuropathy, order damage, and internal health issues (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2022). As a baccalaureate-prepared nurse, this problem is applicable to my nursing practice tête-à-tête and professionally. Multitudinous diabetes cases are admitted regularly due to their high frequency, and I give nursing care treatment to them daily. Also, it relates to me tête-à-tête, as my ma is a diabetic case. Therefore, I am on a grave charge to give care, treatment, and support to my ma in perfecting his diabetes.

Evidence-Based Approach to Guide Nurses

Nurses play a significant part in managing habitual conditions like diabetes, as they are primary caretakers who cover harmonious changes in cases’ health, deliver medicines, and give supportive care. Managing diabetes requires a multifaceted approach of medicine adherence, life modification, and constant monitoring of blood glucose situations. Nurses can educate cases on modifying their societies, particularly cases like my ma, who indulge in unhealthy eating habits and alcohol consumption. This is possible by furnishing comforting sessions and educating cases on tone-operation conduct where they are laboriously involved in perfecting their societies, analogous to enhancing their input of fruits and vegetables rather than reused food (Hermanns et al., 2020).

Also, they can unite with dieticians to produce healthy meal plans that consider patient preferences to make a case-centered care plan. These behaviors can be introduced into my ma’s life, and her life can be modified by furnishing her with DSMES programs. This will educate her about the dangerous impact of consuming alcohol and reused food in her quotidian life and empower her to take care of her health. Likewise, her meal plans can be created considering her preferences and Jones to deliver case-centered care.

NURS FPX 4900 Assessment 1: Assessing the Problem: Leadership, Collaboration, Communication, Change Management, and Policy Considerations

Babysitters can manage cases of diabetes by regularly covering their blood glucose situations. They can cover their glucose situations ever by using a remote monitoring approach. In remote monitoring, cases and healthcare providers coordinate ever to manage their health conditions. Remote monitoring of blood glucose situations can grease cases and babysitters, as cases need to contemporize their HbA1c situations at home without visiting the sanatorium (Shehav-Zaltzman et al., 2020). Also, babysitters can use their time productively by minding farther cases when the monitoring is conducted ever. Also, babysitters can engage with diabetic cases in promoting medicine adherence to antidiabetic drugs to regulate their blood glucose situations.

By supporting my ma in furnishing her medicine regularly on time, I can help my ma promote medicine adherence to her anti-diabetic drugs. Initially, babysitters can give supportive care to habitual cases of diabetes by connecting them with social support groups for diabetes and physical exertion platforms like fitness centers and gyms to meliorate their physical exertion and health conditions (Saffari et al., 2019). This will help my ma be physically more active by engaging her with fitness clubs or support groups where she can connect with people who are also fighting with diabetes and increase her provocation and dedication in managing her diabetes.

Criteria to Evaluate Evidence

These sources of validation can be estimated predicated on CRAAP criteria. These criteria test sources’ currency, connection, authority, delicacy, and purpose. All the sources of validation used fulfill the CRAAP criteria, as all papers were published in the former five times and are applicable to diabetes care. Likewise, the authors mainly specialize in habitual care and have sound medical knowledge. Initially, the results are accurate and statistically proven to draw precious issues in perfecting diabetes. Also, these validation-predicated sources aim to ameliorate health issues in diabetics and the long-term operation of diabetes.

Barriers to Evidence-Based Practices

In administering the forenamed validation-predicated practices, several implicit walls may be encountered. For illustration, the cases may show indifferent stations or careless behavior in rehearsing the tone operation of diabetes. They may warrant the provocation to quit alcohol and apply a healthy life (Adu et al., 2019). Also, nurses and cases may witness technological walls in conducting remote monitoring, and they may witness communication walls due to glitches in technology. Cases may need help to act up with medicine remedy, as non-adherence to pharmacological treatment can hinder the achievement of regulated blood glucose situations with medicine.

Cases may face walls in connecting with support groups for geographical or particular reasons. These walls must be considered while choosing a validation-predicated approach to treating diabetes in aged cases. Considering my ma’s case of diabetes, she has a violent craving for alcohol and fast foods, and she may struggle to manage her diabetes in the long run. Likewise, she can face walls like losing provocation to be constantly physically active, as she has been living a sedentary life. Initially, technological walls can also be encountered in my ma’s case, where remote monitoring can be disintegrated, causing a loss of respectable monitoring of her blood glucose situations.

State Board Nursing Practice Standards/Organizational or Governmental Policies’ Impact on Diabetes

The California Board of Registered Nursing has several guidelines and programs that can profoundly impact diabetes. It has drafted a Nursing Practice Act (NPA), which comprises various guidelines and regulations for babysitters to follow in their nursing practices, including diabetes care. These programs include furnishing high-quality care and safe care treatment to cases.

This is possible by furnishing concentrated care to cases with diabetes in monitoring, medicine operation, and supportive care. Likewise, the NPA provides regulations on promoting educational programs to meliorate nursing practices (California Board of Registered Nursing, 2019). By continuously educating babysitters on diabetes care, analogous to directly covering blood pressure and blood glucose situations, furnishing validation-predicated tone-operation education, and providing harmonious patient education, they can ameliorate cases’ health in diabetes.

NURS FPX 4900 Assessment 1: Assessing the Problem: Leadership, Collaboration, Communication, Change Management, and Policy Considerations

The organizational programs and guidelines of the American Diabetes Association on diabetes care are great tools that can potentially ameliorate diabetes. These guidelines include blood glucose monitoring, diabetes tone operation education and support (DSMES) programs, and medicine operation. By administering these guidelines on diabetes operation, diabetes can be effectively managed, and positive issues can be attained (ADA, n.d.).

Apropos, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has programs on covering healthcare insurance of cases with pre-existing conditions like diabetes, which can affect better affordability of diabetes operation in middle-class and low-income people, as diabetes care costs can affect financial constraints. This policy is helpful in positively impacting cases with diabetes, as it financially assists them in managing their health condition (Furmanchuk et al., 2021).

Impact of Policies on Nursing Scope of Practice

These programs and regulations profoundly impact the nursing compass of practice, as nurses can give better care treatments to cases by administering the nursing board’s programs of safe case care. Likewise, nurses will be available when cases have health insurance content and can nearly manage diabetes in intricate supervision, enhancing their compass of practice. Initially, nurses can meliorate their experience through continuous care delivery and meliorate their nursing practices when these programs are constantly executed.

Leadership Strategies and Improved Outcomes for Diabetes

Colorful leadership strategies live in literature, analogous to transformational leadership, autocratic leadership, situational leadership, and guiding leadership. In healthcare systems, transformational leadership can be effective in perfecting diabetes issues, delivering case-centered care, and enhancing patient experience. In transformational leadership, healthcare professionals, analogous to head babysitters, seek team members’ precious perceptivity and wisdom, encourage them to set a compelling vision, and empower them to make opinions predicated on patient health conditions.

Through transformational leadership, babysitters nearly cover cases and can directly take action to ameliorate diabetes and save the case’s life from adverse life events. This improves diabetes care and promotes case-centered care when babysitters give treatment according to the case’s health conditions and choices (Haoyan et al., 2023).

In diabetes care, there is a pressing need for leadership, as it can direct babysitters on effective care of habitual operation of diabetes. Without leadership, babysitters can’t streamline their care treatments for all cases with diabetes, and extremities may arise. Also, collaboration and communication are demanded in diabetes care, as it requires a multidisciplinary approach involving croakers, dieticians, apothecaries, babysitters, and physical fitness experts. Therefore, effective communication and collaboration among interdisciplinary armies can affect the attainment of the asked pretensions of better-managed blood glucose situations and bettered quality of life for cases (Miller-Rosales & Rodriguez, 2021).

NURS FPX 4900 Assessment 1: Assessing the Problem: Leadership, Collaboration, Communication, Change Management, and Policy Considerations

Diabetes operation also requires change operation within the societies and medicine conduct, as harmonious healthy changes made in life can subsequently control blood glucose situations and enhance life anticipation in diabetic cases. Also, empowering cases to manage their diabetes laboriously requires changing functional ways to make informed opinions and take power of their health (Cardoso Barbosa et al., 2021). Therefore, these aspects of care must be considered to ameliorate diabetes issues in cases like my ma. Apropos, I have proved two hours spent communicating with my ma in the Capella Academic Portal Volunteer Experience Form for future reference.

Conclusion

The patient health problem bandied in this assessment is type 2 diabetes in 60-year-old manly Jackson. Communication with Jackson and his family reveals that he has been a hypertensive case but lately has endured diabetes symptoms. The laboratory disquisition further verified the opinion. Also, his life habits bear revision to ameliorate his diabetes and manage his condition. The substantiation-grounded guidelines for nurses include educating cases on DSMES, remote monitoring of blood glucose situations and drug adherence, and connecting cases with applicable support groups. Also, the Nursing Board of California, ADA, and ACA have programs that impact diabetes appreciatively and enhance the nursing compass of practice. Incipiently, transformational leadership can ameliorate diabetes health issues, deliver case-centered care, and enhance patient experience.
